Need a inexpensive ticketing system

I work for a college now and I'm in charge of the student help desk a total new group to the college. I'm looking for a ticketing system that will help me track what kind of calls we are getting. It has to be good at reporting and doesn?t need any special tools just tracking and reporting but I don?t have allot of money to spend. Any suggestions?

You might take a look at Trouble Ticket Express. It's free, open source, web based ticketing system for help desks.

Not sure of your set up, since you didn't tell us, but it might work.

Price out Windows tracking software vs the cost of a PC to load linux on, and you might just be able to justify the cost. Heck, it just might run on an extra system that is sitting in the corner.

We used TrackIT for a while, but then the support recommended to my associate to open the database in MSAccess to compress the database. Because they told her backing up the database would be unnecessary, she didn't. Toasted the whole database.

We don't use that system anymore. :0
