Need a policy to use as a template
I.T. Policies
Our business has grown to the point that we need tostart setting up computer policies. Where can I find or does anyone have general policies that I can use as a template. I need to cover everything as much as possible from e-mail & internet/network to machine/system settings tampering and personal use.

I realize that there is no correct answer for this. If you supply a policy or direct us to one is should be as thorough as possible.

Need a policy to use as a template

by dlw6 In reply to Need a policy to use as a ...

John,

Here's the short version:

Your company computer is provided for the conduct of "official" business. Excessive personal use of the web or the use of programs that automatically provide private interest (sports, stocks etc.) updates consumes network resources and hampers the conduct of "official" business. Incidental and occasional use is authorized but subject to monitoring. Additionally, high bandwidth applications such as on-line games, audio or video, and emailing large attachments are not authorized for personal use. Instant messaging and IRC will also not be used for personal communications. Games are not approved, even during lunch hour/break.

I have already sent you the long version via e-mail.
