Need Advice: Best Laptop for Graphic Design and Light Gaming?

    by wishforbes.com ·

    Hi everyone!

I’m in the market for a new laptop and could really use some advice. I’m a graphic designer, so I need something that can handle Adobe Creative Suite smoothly, but I also enjoy some light gaming on the side—think Sims 4 and Civilization VI.

I’ve been looking at the Dell XPS 15 and the MacBook Pro 16, but I’m open to other suggestions. What do you think is the best option for balancing design work and gaming? Are there any specific models or specs I should be considering? Budget isn’t too tight, but I don’t want to overspend if I don’t have to. Thanks in advance for your help.

The applications Sims4 and Civilization VI should work on any mainstream laptop like you mentioned, so that should be the least of your concerns. I will let others chime in on the other aspects of you needs/wants. The most important factors are: What is your budget and would you consider any other make/model of the laptop? I do suggest that you don’t get the cheapest model laptop automatically unless you fully research it or ask further questions.

      Best is subjective.

I like your choices so far. For me it was some Lenovo laptop(?) with the usual Core i9, 32GB RAM, 2TB SSD and RTX 4070. It was on sale in the mid 1,000 USD so I bought it. Seems nice but could be too heavy for those that travel.
