Need personal trainer in XML.

By Itpunk ·
Tags: Off Topic
I`m a web designer with skills in HTML, CSS, Javscript, etc. I would like to start learning XML, but my web design group is still in its start-up and I don`t have any money to give out.

So my question is - Is anyone ready to become my personal XML trainer? Lessons and exercises by email, private chat rooms, etc. This would be a quite big job for a person who will agree to do it. I`m ready to give away all my techpoints(1000).

Siim, I am not your trainer, but I know who is. His name is Siim Einfeldt. He already knows most of XML, just didn't know it! If you can do CSS and HTML, then XML will be a Short, short study.

Sun has a Tutorial
http://java.sun.com/xml/tutorial_intro.html

Microsoft has a tutorial
http://msdn.microsoft.com/xml/tutorial/default.asp

Project Cool has a tutorial
http://www.projectcool.com/developer/

and DEVhead.com has a gazillion trainings on XML

So, why would you want anyone butSiim to spoonfeed you?

Good Luck!

Siim,

Razor is spot on, XML is an absolute pinch if you are already proficient in HTML, CSS and Javascript. Get hold of a good book, I can recommend "XML in Action" by William J Pardi $39.99 (you can buy it on line from (http://mspress.microsoft.com/books/2461.htm)

XML IN ACTION will help you:
• Learn how XML relates to other common markup languages and what sets it apart from HTML, SGML, and RTF
• Understand the basics of XML structure and syntax
• Learn the rules that define Document Type Definition (DTD)
• Utilize XML through scripting
• Use XML as a data source to learn the ins and outs of its linking capabilities
• Examine how XML works and help you create extensible style sheets based on formatting rules
• Find out about current development and what the future holds for XML

It also comes with a CD showing sample code MSDN tech support etc.

Go for it & good luck - Joe
