Need user friendly mail on SCO unix

By techless ·
What options are available for getting mail on a SCO unix server? I need it for internal communication among our dumb terminal users and I want it to link / interface with our internet mail accounts. We do not desire the ability to transfer files --just plain messaging. The users are familiar with the old WP format.
Dreaming ... I would like it to be user friendly and easy to learn. It should also be easy to interface with our legacy unibasic manufacturing sw.
Suggestions ...??

Sco Unix Open Server knows only two formats of mail. The plain 'mail' and mmdf. With mmdf it is possible to connect SCO to an internet mail server and send and receive mail. Just logon to Unix with userid mmdf and password mmdf and see what is in the home directory. With the 'man mmdf' command you get a short explanation of how it works. If you need a better description, I can send it to you.

Both Sendmail and MMDF mail server programs come with SCO Openserver release 5 and greater. If you are running version 5.0.4 or greater, the scoadmin program will assist with the setup of sendmail by choosing that option. Other information about sendmail can be obtained from the Sendmail book from O'Reilly at http://www.ora.com or http://www.sendmail.org. SCO Openserver 5 also comes with a nice text based interface called scosh where you can read and create email, among other things. You also could load PINE which is a very popular text based email reader. You also could use MUTT which you can obtain the binaries and instructions from the SCO Skunkware site at: http://www.sco.com/skunkware/osr5/mail/mutt/

Hope this is what you need. Good Luck!
