    Netscape and Outlook Web Access

    Locked

Is there a patch for netscape that allows a user to log into Out Look Web Access for Microsoft Exchange? I know that Netscape sends a clear text password, I want a patch that will send the password with a NT Challenge Responce encrytion.

I have been able to get it to work on Solaris, but I am using the 128bit Encryption version. I would look getting that high encryption version installed on your system.

      1. There is no patch for Microsoft to allow NTLM for OWA. Think ‘monopoly’ and you’ll know why! hehe…
      2. There is supposedly an NTLM plug-in for Netscape 4.5+ that allows for NTLM.
      3. Use clear-text over SSL. It’s free and a piece of cake to setup. Just install Cert Server on NT (Option Pack) and create a key. Then go to IIS services manager, select your web, then the key manager button (looks like a hand holding a key). Assign the key to the www service under the key manager and presto, tell your users to access the site using https://blah.blah.com/exchange instead of http://…

One last thing. Make sure your clients understand to accept the certificate if presented – tell them it will say such-and-such (you put in your name, contact info etc when creating the cert) so they don’t get freaked out if they know it’s not from VeriSign etc.

Ok. One more. Thawte has a $125/yr OFFICIAL cert you can buy online at http://www.thawte.com and an international 128-bit SuperCert to…

One more point. The Netscape plug-in I’ve heard references was a commercial (and paid for) plugin, not free that’s why I didn’t put much effort into finding it since ssl is so simple.
