Netscape browser refuses connection

I have Netscape 4.8 and IE 6.01 on my machine. Using Netscape gives me the error “network connection was refused by server” for several urls. What is suspicious is that the message pops up immediately as though the connection error is stored somewhere. The same urls open with no problem in IE6.
I crashed with netscape open to these pages.
I am running Windows 2000 and removed the netscape installation and the netscape directory. When I reinstalled much of the information from the previousinstall was still there. I searched the registry and found no matches for the data. I searched for files containing the offending urls and found nothing. My gues is that there is a binary file with the data in it in the Windows directory. Any ideas?
