Network card not detected on netwrok

By Herby Machawi ·
I have genius New GE2000111 series network cards installed in in pc that are using a peer to per network with a BNC connetion type. I have been using the network for more than a year until now.
On four of the pcs the cards can be detected but if you try to log on the netwrok from a defferent pc , it is not detected
If I put a deffernt card , it detectc it withno problems at all
Could it be the network cards that are faulty or its something else

Network card not detected on netwrok

Of course a card can go bad, but they are fairly reliable.
You didn't say what OS, but if Win95/98 try going to windowsupgrade.microsoft.com and install all the critical updates. There are a lot of security issues which repair such problems. Whileyou are at it there are upgrades specific to network issues.
After all upgrades are installed, be sure you have the most recent drivers for your card installed and setting set correctly. New drivers can be found at driversguide.com log in as "drivers" with a password of "all" go to bottom of page and do a driver search.
Once up and running try to ping the ip from the other computers, maybe a bad cable or hub?
Good luck...

There are two kinds of 'detected', does the NIC show up in device manager? or is it that no shares are showing up in network neighborhood anymore? and which protocols are you running??

On the PC in question can you see the other PC's on the network. If so then you need to install file and print sharing on that PC.

Can the PC also see itself when you click network neibourhood.

Are all to PC's got the same network protocols installed.

If all the above are ok I would say a faulty card or cabling
