Network Connection between Windows XP and Windows Vista

Hi,
I am trying to setup a network connection between my Laptop with Windows Vista and Desktop which has Windows XP. The network card used in the Laptop is Inte(R)PRO/1000 PL and the desktop contains Realtek newtwork card.
