I am finishing a fresh install of Win XP pro on a Dell Dimension 8300 for my boss’ personal use. He started the install and couldn’t find the correct driver for the ethernet controller. I figured this would be no trouble at all since I recently built one of these machines for myself and am happily using it at home with no problems. When I went to install the recommended Broadcom driver from Dell’s site, I got a message stating that this driver did not contain info about my hardware. So, I installed the Intel 10/100 driver, which is the only other listed driver for this machine on Dell’s website. Same message. Any suggestions?
