    new computer functioning very slowly

    I’ve inherited my Dad’s computer. It’s technically 2 years old but only be used for 6 months and been sitting in a drawer since. \

    Here’s the specs:\
    AMD Dual-Core A9-9420 with turbo core technology upto 3.6 GHz
    AMD Radeon R5 Graphics
    6 GB DDR4 Memory
    1 TB HDD

    I dont really know how to read that. Is that decent?

    Anyway so I’ve just started using this and it’s bloody slow. Just launching youtube took multiple mins. And I’ve been trying to type a term into the search bar at the bottom (is that Cortona?) and I still haven’t been able to.

    What would be my next steps? Do I do a bunch of scans? Or do I just do some kinda reisntall so I have a fresh computer? I dont have the CD for Windows, if that’s even a thing anymore. We bought it from BestBuy if thats relevant.

      But since it’s technically a hand-me-down, I assume there might be a couple of viruses and Trojans still latched on to the device. Get the computer formatted, if need be, reinstall the entire suite, that might help (if you dont know how, get professional help).

      Check the below issues:
      Reboot
      Background programs
      Delete temp files
      Free hard drive space
      Bad, corrupted or fragmented hard drive
      Scan for viruses
      Scan for malware
      Hardware conflicts
      Update Windows
      Update your drivers
      Reboot the computer again
      Run a registry cleaner
      Memory upgrade
      Hard drive upgrade
      Computer or processor is overheating
      Increase or upgrade the processor speed
      Erase computer and start over
      Hardware issues

      Check for Virus % Storage space

      Which Anti Virus application do you use? and how much your computer’s storage space is filled? Scan your computer, there might be some virus attacks and also if your storage space is very less or occupied the complete storage space then free some space, which might be a reason of slow working.
