new drivers

Can i install new drivers on my old computers harddrive for new cards and devices that will be on my new computer. I am using only the harddrive form my old computer on my new computer.

Tricky at best.

Here is the what you can try.

Boot up the PC on the old hardware.
In the device manager, delete all drivers for all system devices and perfierals that you will n ot be usign on the other box.

Then pull the drive and put it in the other machine. When the PC boots, HOPEFULLY, it will just ask for the drivers that are missing. It's a dicey prospect at best. Be prepared with your install cd in case you need to repair the system files as well.

I DON'T advise this path but since it's the second time you've asked, go for it.

Just one point here

You will need a OEM Install Disc not a Slipstreamed Recovery CD as it will most likely not have the correct drivers for the M'Board and will not work on the new Hardware involved here.

Lets you install per computer so if you transfer your hard drive to a new computer you need a new licence for that that computer.
It works this way you buy a new computer with XP installed and now want to buy a new computer with a faster CPU and more memory and want to transfer your old hard drive to the new computer. You can not do this because the MS is registered to that computer.
