New mail not showing in Inbox

We are running Exchange 2000 with Outlook 2000 on the desktops. We have 40 users. New mail from within the domain typically displays in the user Inbox immediately. For two users, however, new mail does not display. It shows up in the Inbox only after the individual sends an email. The time reflects the time that the original email was sent. Is there an Outlook or Exchange setting that resolves this issue?

I have had this happen as well, I bet if they close outlook and open it back up, there are a few messages that were delayed. I have a suggestion, although your problem may be different.

Something to try: and a last resort

First, have them log out of outlook, I mean go to the "File" menu and click "exit and log off". Because if you just hit the "X" button, exchange doesnt look at that as a log off very well.

Next, reset their network password in Active Directory, if they dont want you to know it, have them go to the server.

After that have them reopen Outlook and try sending/receiving a few test emails. They should appear within seconds or instant. Have them send them to themselves, or a co-worker down the hall.

That was a workaround for me, and there was one time that it didnt work. I had to uninstall/reinstall outlook. Make sure to do a complete install of outlook, not just typical.

I had that problem also. My user had windows xp sp2 with outlook 2000. (most of my other users have windows 2000) I finally figured out that the built in windows firewall was blocking it from getting the messages immediately. I created an exception in his firewall for outlook and now it works fine. I don't know what platforms your running on, but if you're using xp with outlook 2000, than this should solve it.
