New Manager.

I have recently viewed an article about new IT Manager and thought of writing about myself for seeking help.

I have some 8-10 years of experience in quality control and assurance & environmental fields, IT service management and as well as internal auditing and administration. I also have a knowledge about Human Resources (Just knowledge pls. note this point).

I have recently been invited for an interview for the position of Quality Assurance / HR Manager. The company quite satified with the expierence I hold and I believe somehow on the knowledge that I hold about HR.

I am now on road to be short listed. I have never worked as manager but in case I am short listed for the above position, I need to know the following:

What should I consider more, if they hold another interview?
In case of job offer, what should I do to become a successfull manager in the field of (Quality Assurance / HR Manager). What steps do I need to take as a successfull manager as well as for the security of my job and to remain in there.

Manager QA/HR

IMO to be a successful manager you need to earn the respect of everyone in the business. To stay there you have to and be seen to deliver more/better than your predecessor and at least as good as your peers. My predecessor as Quality Manager was good at documenting issues but unable to facilitate the changes necessary to address them, hence my appointment. As for HR, it's a minefield with constant legislative change and not a position I'd envy you. That said, my experience is gained in small businesses <150 employees but larger businesses may be a different story.
