That really depends on what you want to do and why you want to learn it. There are basically different ways to develop a website, for example:
      1. Write your own html and javascript. Then you need to learn to code those two languages.
      2. For websites that need there own database: use PHP or a development environment based on it (like Lavarel or Symphony).
      3. Use a high level no-code framework like WordPress or Wix. Those are meant for non-programmers like you.

Whatever you choose, I would start with a good book about the subject. For #1, for example, go to amazon.com and search for books about html. But that’s kind of useless if you want to work with WordPress.

There is nothing wrong with learning html if you want to become a web developer to earn money.

But I think most websites are made by people who don’t want to be a programmer but just need a site. They use a tool like WordPress because they can make very nice sites with it without knowing anything about html or css or javascript.

So it depends on what you want, a site or a career in IT.

I’m not a programmer too, and I have created several websites that work great!

Actually, it’s a common misconception with beginners that websites not created manually by devs are not as fast or functional as the ones made so. Nowadays website development tools are so good that anyone can create a great website.

So one way to do it is to use website building tools like Wix or Squarespace. These tools allow you to create a website by dragging and dropping different elements into place. You can also use already designed templates, which makes the process even easier.

Another way to create a website is to use a development platform like WordPress. With WordPress, you can either use a hosted service (where WordPress manages the hosting for you) or install WordPress on your own server.

So usually the first step starts with choosing your host (ex: Bluehost is relatively cheap and beginner friendly) and following a step-by-step guide on how to set up your first website. It’s how I did it, and every time I got stuck somewhere, I found answers on forums and Youtube 🙂

Just start and don’t be discouraged (most of the websites are created without typing a single code)!

“As a web developer, you will encounter numerous challenges. Some of them will be easy to fix, while others will be extremely hard,” Kowalski says. “It’s critical to be persistent in improving your skills since the industry is ever-changing.” There’s definitely a lot to learn in web development.
