New To TechRepublic Pro - Where Do I Start?

By bohig ·
Hi, I am new to TR Pro. I am used to the question and answer format of Experts-Exchange.

Does TR Pro have anything similar and how to do it?

Thanks for any guidance for a newbie.

Welcome aboard.

First, welcome to one of the dustier corners of the Internet. We had to let the maid go and no one has clean up around here in a while.

If you'll look in the upper right, you should see an orange FAQ link. That's a great place to start.

Next click "My Workspace", go to your profile, and fill out your Biography. That will let other members know what experience and background you bring to the party, so we'll know how to pitch responses to your questions (total newbie, Linux expert, web designer, whatever).

There are two main forums here, Questions and Discussions. If you want to ask a technical question, the Questions forum is the best choice. The Questions format also allows you to rank the responses as helpful, resulting the the responder increasing his much envied "Thumbs Up" count. The Discussions forum is better for opinion topics that don't have hard-and-fast technical answers. While technical questions are tolerated in Discussions, non-technical topics are rarely answered in Questions.

You've obviously found the Questions forum, since you opened this topic. Use the same method to ask questions in the future.

Interesting that you've been a member for years and you're just now sounding off. Geez, I though I lurked for a while. Don't worry too much about making mistakes. The Powers That Be around here are -very- liberal; it's the other members you have to watch out for :-)

Do I get a gold star? Can I erase the blackboard?

bohig, that's Beth. She's one of the PTBs and spends entirely too much of her day blowing our noses and spanking our bottoms.

I'm privileged to be a part of such a fine community. *sheds tear*

*hands Palmetto a gold star*
You may clean my white board.

And we love Beth for it. She is like the Nanny here and keeps us in check

Sometimes, we all tend to behave badly and deserve a good spank once in a while. Just don't go overboard and argue with Beth's decision to delete or edit your post or you'll get permanently banned from our joyous romper room :^0
