New website design

By ToniBP ·
I am working with an outside web designer to create a new look for my companies website. He has some great ideas, but I'm afraid he can get too creative and strays off track. Does anyone have any suggestions to streamline this kind of a large-scale project? We are currently working on a flowchart, but this will be my first redesign and I'm not sure if there is something better to use as a guide. Thoughts and any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Communicate

by Deborahjb In reply to New website design

Have you tried communicating your concerns with him? He needs to know what you are thinking in order to do the job. Regarding flowcharts, they are one way to visualize a website's sitemap, but often web teams will use very lo-tech options, such as stickynotes on a whiteboard or wall, and even legos. When very large projects are difficult to visualize use whatever you are comfortable with. Flowcharts are easy to share virtually, however, if you need to collaborate with people not in the same office/town with you.
