Outlook is designed to be a corporate email system and they don't have the newsgroup functionality in it.

You can use another mail client like Thunderbird, which works well. There are free newsreaders out there, but they depend on personal taste.

Or like me you can surrender to the monster that is Google, and use Google groups - which is usenet news in a browser format. It has its plusses and minueses but I like it.

I did this. However it is not clear what kind of account it will be. no one account which i created this way allowed me to connect to news server. Outlook has advantage that it has dynamic spell checker

When I tried Office 2003 help, it mentions using the Outlook Express news reader. You could have Outlook as your mail client and use Outlook express as your news reader only. Just don't set up a mail account on both versions.
