No broadcasting wireless network and Windows Vista

By massimo.corso ·
I have Windows Vista Ultimate italian edition on my new HP NX9420 notebook. I already tried all possible drivers, from HP and from Intel, for the Intel 3495 ABG wireless card, but the problem is always the same: I cannot reconnect to any non-broadcasting SSID wireless network. I have always to re-specify all network parameters. Obviously I put the right tick on "Connect on no broadcastng" (or the right translation of it) and correctly save the network parameters, but nothing appens. And I tried also to disable the Windows Firewall, not only from panel but also from the Services MMC. Thak you for any help.

Seems common

I've got this too... had to give up and broadcast the SSID. None of my XP machines had this problem so it must be a Vista thing. You're right. The "connect even if station is not broadcasting" should do the trick but it doesn't... all I get is a network listed as "unnamed secured network" and I have to re-enter the SSID and PSK manually to connect. If you look at the "manage wireless networks" page you then see multiple entries for your network as each time you fill in the security info it creates another wireless network profile that then later does not work and does not appear in the usual networks list.
