    “NO DOWNLOADS FROM INTERNET”! HELP ASAP

    Locked

    Area = Student Lab
    Have deployed IEAK 5.0
    I have option “do not save to disk” in the IE kit, however when testing this and the question comes up during a download “What would you like to do with this program – choices
    1. Run this information from its current location OR
    2. Save this program to disk.

    #2 works great – and access is denied
    #1 still allows the program or download to go to temp folder.

    What should I do besides the “run only” and list every possible .exe file the students need to run – anything else not listed will not run. Is this the only answer? or is there an alternative.

      In view of the fact that no-one can answer your question, could humbly request that you redefine the problem.
      Is the problem that you wish to restict users from downloading files?
      Is the only current solution to use System Policies to Prevent users from running particular .exe.
      Is your ideal solution to prevent them from downloading ANY files from the Internet?

      Check this first,In IE5.x, go to tools, internet options, security, highlight “internet” and go to custom level. Page down till you come to “downloads” and make sure under “file downloads” you have the “enabled” box checked. Uncheck it if you want to prevent downloads.

        i.brew – thank you! You made me think, while I was preventing in IEAK, I needed to also uncheck above on my bench pc while pulling in settings. It must be checked in both spots to prevent downloads, & run from source. Just tested and it is exactly what I want! Your a life saver!
