No mouse detected?

By kingnqueen ·
I'm running a Mitac PH5400 V p233 board with 40megs ram, win 95 bare bones. When booting up I get a "no mouse detected" message". The board came used with no ps/2 port. Pins 4,5 & 7 have voltage which seems odd as my other boards have pins 3,4 & 7 with voltage. Anyone else run into this problem? Can the pins with voltage be changed or is a proprietary cable needed to run a serial mouse? Mouse is a Microsoft Wheel mouse. No modem installed. Com 1 enabled in the bios. Latest BIOS flashed for thisboard

quick fix

For your problem we recommend installing a new card to support the mouse. It sounds like the easiest way to get it to work. Then the mouse will run off of the new board.
