No Unpartitioned Space - Dynamic Disk

By aviezov ·
Hi All!
I've upgraded my exchnage server to win2k and for doing that I've broken the mirror on the system disk and performed the upgrade on one of them. The upgrade went great but now when I want to reestablish the mirror I need to upgrade to dynamic but I have no free and unpartitioned space available. I really do not want to risk this server in the backup/delete/upgrade/restore routine. Any clues how can I upgrade to dynamic without the risk of losing my system disk?
TIA,
Avi

To upgrade to a dynamic disk you need at least 1MB free on the disk, and a new install saves 8MB.
I know it's too late now, if you would have left the mirror in-place (I understand you broke it for the sake of fall-back) the mirror set would havebeen supported by Win2K. But after upgrade all fault-tolerence settings require dynamic disks. You could use something like servermagic to free up 8MB on the disk to allow a disk upgrade.

That was a very thoughtful and thorough first answer. Why don't you go ahead and accept that answer and close the question.
