Non Domain Computers saving to domain folder

By suzanne.l.healy ·
I am very new at network administration, and I have been presented with a problem that needs an answer by Monday. I'm hoping someone here can help. The physicians I work for are going to use their personal laptops for a proprietary program. They run Visa & XP Pro. They do not want to join their computers to the domain, however -- while in the office running this proprietary program locally on their machine, they need to able to save the files they create on the network share. The program will point to the network folder and automatically save the files. Is there a way to accomplish this?

Thanks in advance for your help

Batch File

by bincarnato In reply to Non Domain Computers savi ...

Create a batch file with the net use command to map to a network foler.

I would have it look like this:

net use x: /delete
net use x: \\servername\share password /user:domain/username

Then put a shortcut on the desktop to this batch file and when they want to run the software in question, run this batch file first.
