Now What??

By Kuryous1 ·
I've passed both the A+ and Network+ certification and planning my next move.I'm wondering if I should pursue another CompTia entrance exam or move on to Microsoft or some other stuff? I don't want something short lived and I want a certification that has serious backbone. I know there are loyal camps out there as well as "Get as many certifications as possible" types. Currently stuck in an all microsoft environment. Advise please??...Be nice:-) Thanks in advance...

try to get a job with what you have. get experience. then get certified in the product you use at work.

don't waste your own cash on certification. most of us, our employers pay for certs and professional upgrading.

Help Desk stuff?

by Kuryous1 In reply to

Thanks! With what I have, it appears I'm eligible for help desk stuff. Currently, I'm the main administrator for a small buisness running 2003 SBS. I don't think I want to give it up but, do want to continue training and getting certified for that future event that may come.

You could persue the coveted MCSA cert, using the two COMPTIA certs add Win2k Pro and win2k(or 2k3) svr and win2k network management you could get it. This gets you over halfway to MCSE.

Cisco certifications are bar none the best to have on a resume for networking.

All the certs have the lifespan of a gnat. If you want something long lived get a journeymans plumbers license.
