NT Server Pol. Editor w/98 Workstations

By Istmaj ·
I have been trying to implement Policy Editor on 170+ Networked Win98 workstations and my server is using Windows NT Server 4.0. I know that to implement Policy Editor on Win98 machines, I have to install it from the disk to the workstation. My question is: how can I implement the same policy on all 170 workstations without going to each machine to install? Is there a way I can download the policy to all machines from the server once I implement the policies that I want on one PC?

In simple terms, follow this:
1)Create your policies in Pol Edit.
2) Save the policy file as config.pol to the \winnt\system32\repl\import\scripts. This is the NETLOGON share you see.
3) When users authenticate to the server the policies will be dowloaded by the clients.
Simple, no??? ;-)

The link above is a very good, detailed, resource if you have any questions....

ANOTHER SIMPLE SOLUTION IN REFERENCE TO ANSWER NO. 2:

In the PDC, fire up Poledit, then File>New Policy, delete the default computer and the default user, then click
ADD User or
ADD Group or
ADD Computer,
then click browse, then selectall the users or groups or computers you want to implement the policy.
Then follow answer no. 2.
You're done. That easy.
