NT Workstation

If you have folder with R W E and a file within the folder, How can you just write to it and not delete it. Pretty much tried eveything. I'm a new user.

If you right-click on the file to bring up the Properties page, choose Security, then Permissions. In the drop-down box that says Full Control (or whatever the current setting is), scroll down to the bottom and choose Special File Access. At that point, you can choose to allow writes but not allow deletes.

checked the even view, it usually tell you why the service won't start.
my gust is, you have duplicate computer on the network.

if the file system is NTFS then right click on the file you want to set that permission or restrict that permission and choose properties and the security tab if its not NTFS then (its about time you convert to NTFS) you cant set permissions on files itself only share permissions on folders.
