I need to migrate 7 antiquated servers to 5 new Dell 4300 PowerEdge servers. I need to know what would be the best method or way to go about migrating the services over to the new equipment. Should i configure the new servers, put them online as BDC’s and synchronize the entire domain thereby creating the information needed on the new servers, then promoting the BDC to PDC thus completing the task? Or should i back-up the PDC and BDC on tape and just run the tape on the new servers. Is there another way which is less painful that doesn’t require technical difficulty that would get the job done in a timely manner.
