Can someone explain how ,if possible in a mixed NT4 domain with W2K Pro Clients, to use System Policy Editor to stop users from installing Apps locally, and from logging on locally even tho their account is locked out. Any help is appreciated, even Websites that may have mixed domain admin info.

Local Security Policy

by ghstinshll In reply to NT4PDCW2KClientsHowImplem ...

This security is independant of the LAN, and is managed locally on the machine.

Under the mamagement, add the user's domain account to the machine's local group for "users", and make sure they don't belog to any other groups with more access, like admins.

As for the lockout, I can't think of it right now, besides that you need to disallow interactive logon, I think. That denis local access to that box, and allows only network logons. If I'm right, then it's available in Administrative Tools, then Local Security Policy.

Anyone else care to back me up or shoot me down?
