$NTUNINSTALLKB... FOLDERS

By cruffin ·
Is it safe (good idea or bad idea) to delete the $NTUNINSTALLKB..... folders from the Windows folder? Will copying or backing up to disc, then deleting, suffice? I've got 124 of thes folders.

Unless you don't need them

They are backups of old files replaced by Windows/MS update, not part of anything useful. If you have been running a few weeks since your last visit to the update site and you have used all the programs you want and they all still work, it's safe to delete all of these folders.

Depends--you may be able to safely remove some

If you know that you won't be needing to remove a patch or update, then yes, you can safely copy them to a CD for backuup and remove.
