O/E 6.0 Properties settings

I am using Win 98/2…O/E6.0…ISP is Quixnet.net I am having problems with 127.0.0.1 coming into play. I don’t know where this came from. At every boot up I have go into properties and change the POP3 server from 127.0.0.1 to the correct mail.quixnet.net and server port from 200 to the correct 110 port. The Quixnet tech crew has helped me in making sure of all the correct settings, but for some reason they do not hold. Of course InternetAlert tells me that 127.0.0.1 is an intruder. I just don’t know where it came from and how to get the property settings to hold. Can you help?
