We have been supplied an HP package for use in a one button disaster recovery scenario. But. since we have been unable to complete the restoration in an experiment condition, we have investigated further and the package supplied seems unable to support OBDR. The package is as follows:
HP Vectra (VL 420 MT) running Windows 2000 Professional and ARCserve 2000 connected to an HP Surestore External DLT VS80e Drive (Model no C7503A).
All indication on HP web-sites is that OBDR is not compatible with the Vectra PCs.
Can anyone confirm one way or other whether this does work with this configuration.
(All testing carried out to date can enable us to restart the tape drive in OBDR mode (confirmed by irregular flashing “Ready” light) but upon PC startup, the tape drive is scanned but the drive is not found. We have already configured the Vectra to allow boot to CD drive and changed the boot order to place the SCSI CD as the first item).
