Object in Word–No Color on Screen

When inserting a drawing object, and adding color to it, the color does not show up on the computer screen. The formatting is there because it prints ok, but the color does not appear on the screen. When inserting a clipart object with color, it shows up fine. Is this a .dot template problem?
