OE not sending embedded JPG in HTML mode

By d.jarrell ·
A while ago, I discovered and removed two trojans - revop A & C from my computer. At the time, I purcased TrendMicro's PC Cillin Internet Security, which I keep up to date. Shortly after installing it, I noticed that when I sent email in HTML format, I could not embed JPGs, but I could embed GIFs. I did not know if it was because of the trojans or any unknown viruses that may have damaged the program, or if there was something in the Internet Security that was preventing the embedding - such as a firewall. TrendMicro told me that they have had no complaints of this nature and to be sure, try uninstalling and then reinstalling - trying to embed while the software was uninstalled. I did that. I was able to embed ONE email. I tried a second time, and it did not embed. I reinstalled the software. I have turned off virtually every part of the software, and turned it back on after, while checking to see if it was preventing the embedding. I searched Microsoft's knowledge base with no luck, I I have checked every technical site I can think of with no luck, and I even called Microsoft (which was a mistake - I could barely understand the man, and he insisted he knew more than I did and I should follow his direction exactly. Took me forever to fix the computer.).

Incidently, if the JPG is uploaded to Photobucket, I can use IMG SRC with the URL and the image is able to be seen. Otherwise, it's the dreaded red x. I noticed that other embedded emails have a hex code which I assume is the digitization of the JPG. My emails don't have that.

My Compaq is running Win98SE, OE 6, 500 mhz K6-2, with 312 MB ram (yes. 312 - the video is eating some of it).

Were you able to see the image in the message stored in the Sent Items? If you do then the issue might be with your mail server.

I think MS changed the default settings in OE to not send pictures with email. Could be wrong though.

Check here:

Tools>options>send>html settings>send pictures with message.

Make sure it's ticked.
