Office 2003 locks all files from access

i just installed office 2003 professional. all word and excel files on the machine are "not available".

am i doing something stupid??

A little more info would be helpful. Did you have another version of Office before that generated all those files or did you copy them from another machine?

What OS are you running?

office XP (upgrade) was on the machine and created most of the files. am running windows XP Pro. pent 4 with 512mg ram. i deinstalled office xp after backing up outlook. then installed new office 2003 pro. now all the doc's are "not available"
