Office 2007 attachments

Hi all. When I attempt to open an attachment via email, it will open the corresponding program but not the attachment. For example, I try to open a word document and it opens MS Word, but not the document. After this I can click the link again and it will open the actual document. Any thoughts?

No help from Microsoft or google.

It is a Vista machine : (

Edit the 'Open' option

Try this:
1. Go to explorer --> Tools --> Folder Options
2. Go to File Types tab
3. Select the DOC ext or DOCX ext or both depending on which type of file you wish to open and click Advanced and then EDIT the 'Open' option

In the Application used to perform action use:
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE12\WINWORD.EXE" /n /dde "%1"

(I think all you will have to add is the "%1"
at the end. Please verify that this path is correct before applying changes

Click ok and you should be able to open documents by double-clicking the file now.

Did not work with Windows Vista

Hi, thank you for the reply Madhu. Unfortunately it did not work in Vista. I even changed the theme back to Windows original. After changing the theme I was able to navigate further, but could not get to the file types tab, as it was not there.
