office 2k3 custom installation wizard

all workstations are on XP (sp1 or 2) and most of them are running ms office 2003. but a few of them including some in branch offices are still running ms office xp. i want to do remote intall using custom installation wizard. i think i pretty much figured out how to do it but one question remains: if i run this installation, can i still patch office updates/servics packs using WSUS?

i know there is a method of installing office 2003 using GPO (which triggers office installation with package installed prior to it). but if i do that, then i’ll again have to use GPO to patch updates/service packs…
