office contacts problem

Outlook users trying to open contacts keep getting error message: “Can’t open this item. Out of memory or system resources. Close some windows or programs and try again.”

I have nothing else opened but outlook and still got this message. We are using Outlook 2002.

Anyone have any suggestions? (rebooting didn’t help
either)
