office contacts problem

By scott.kinkade ·
Outlook users trying to open contacts keep getting error message: "Can't open this item. Out of memory or system resources. Close some windows or programs and try again."

I have nothing else opened but outlook and still got this message. We are using Outlook 2002.

Anyone have any suggestions? (rebooting didn't help
either)

Try to run an adaware/spyware cleaner first, then do an antivirus scan, then check the amount of the free ram (both physical&virtual) if it's low increase virtual amount, and @ the end - how big is the addresses file?

In addition to the first answer, you may want to try a memory manager/recover tool to see if you can identify the resource pig (generally office and Windoze but you never know).

Try one of these; Memturbo etc.

There are some tools in the returned hits that aren't applicable (recover my photos) but most are memory recovery monitoring programs.
