Office XP

By qpeabody ·
I have a user running Office XP and she's having problems with her Outlook. Her problems are: 1.) She was migrated from Netscape and is used to having the address/name filled in when she starts typing. This is not happening for her in Outlook, and I'm unsure if there is a on/off switch for this feature. I set it up where new messages first look in her contacts folder for addresses. Don't know what else to do. 2.) She also wants to BCC or CC herself on every email she sends out. Do I need to create a rule to do this or is there another way? Thanks

Outlook 2000 only had Autoresolve, 2002-2003 have Autocomlete
Tools>Options>Preferences >Email options ..Advanced email options

When you tab out, it will Autoresolve the address.
After the cache is populated, it will Autocomplete.

Every e-mail sent is, by default, placed in the Sent items folder

These options are already enabled, but it doesn't seem to be taking. So I unchecked the boxes, closed and relaunched outlook then checked the boxes again and closed and relaunched outlook. Still nothing. Maybe I'm naive, but shouldn't it automatically resolve all address from the contacts folder if sending a new message?

1. Click on Tools, Options. On the Preferences tab, select Email options, then Advanced email options. Check off Automatic name checking, and Suggest names... That should do it.

2. One way is to create a custom form (Tools, Forms, Design a form) that includes the Bcc field with her name pre-filled. Then do Tools, Publish to save it. To use it, when preparing a new message, click on Tools, Forms, Choose Form.

It sounds daunting, but I've never actually designed a form before, only read about it. I was able to muddle through it in 10 minutes.

What happens when she tabs out of the address box, or uses Tools>Check names?

This feature puts the name in cache and will auto populate the address when she starts typing. It has to be something I'm missing.
