office XP

By bjcee ·
I carried out an install(upgrade)of office 2003 over office XP but for some reason Excel is asking for the Office XP CD. Unfortunately the CD that is being requested appears to be a commercial box version (Office XP with Frontpage) and not the version that is included with in the Microsoft Action pack, the version required is not available.
Is there any way to remove this annoyance without having the commercial box version???

Yes, Contact Microsoft direct. Not certain whre you live UK, USA, Rest of Wordl, but there is a contact number somewhere. Alternativly ahve a look at th various manauakls you got with your version of Ofrice XP. If not than go to wher eyou will find a contact numebr somewhere.

All you need to give them is the key number, that you should have, if you have a legal copy of XP. Alternatively go to an Office application (ecel, Word etc.) > Help > About Microsft Ecxel/Word> Product Key. Make a note of teh number, as you will be asked for it. Microsft will then send you a replacement disk.
