Old PC Equipment

By KGibson19 ·
I have recently upgraded some old pc's in my organization and need a place to dispose of the old equipment. being a medium sized credit union, most places suggested to me by the EPA will not deal with the amount of expired equipment i have.

What does everyone else do in this situation? i could easily take it to the dumpster, but i would like to be environment friendly. most of the pc's are old 486's or p133's...any suggestions?

We use an agency here in town who take old computer and electronic equipment as a donation that is tax deductable to the company. The agency employs adults with disabilities who then dismantle the machines to recycle materials or resell them. You are awarded a small percentage of any funds from the resale.
You could try searching your local business listing for wholesale recycling centers. Or do a google search.

We have a local company that works with both Goodwill Industries and our local recycling program.

Their web site is

They do charge for commercial equipment.
They remove and sell any valuable parts inside the PCs, and recycle the raw materials of the rest.
