One Small Step

By Waldon ·
You state:

"There is scarcely a man or woman left in the industrialized world who hasn't at least once heard astronaut Neil Armstrong's famous quotation, commemorating the moment he became the first person to set foot on another world: 'That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.'"

There is considerable discussion about what Mr. Armstrong actually said. He has always maintained that he said "one small step for a man," and the recording is not 100% clear. NASA accommodated Armstrong's correction to some extent, while others are not so certain.

The difference in meaning with and without the "a" is significant, but unresolved.
