Opening a Relay

By waynesreed ·
This almost sounds silly. With so much focus on preventing open relays I'm having trouble allowing one IP address to relay through my MS Exchange 2000 server. I think I have it set properly. In my SMTP Virtual Server settings I have granted relay permission to the IP address in question. I still get 550 5.7.1 Unable to relay for <e-mail name>. What am I missing?

I don't quite get it. Do I need to create an additional SMTP connector or modifiy the existing connector? It only seems to affect how messages go out, I can't grasp how this is allowing a relay. Can you clear this up for me?

Yes, you will need an additional connector.

Turns out my firewall was hiding the IP of the initial server, that's why the simple solution did not seem to work.
Leaving out the firewall issue your answer was dead-on.
