opening .cwk files

By Seadogs ·
I have a .cwk (appleworks) file I'd like to be able to convert into word or open with another program so that I can cut and paste it into word. Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks!

I'm not sure exactly which versions you have or what the specifics are, but these instructions from the Microsoft Support page may help:

On the File menu in ClarisWorks 3.x or 4.0, click Save As, and then select one of the following format options:

Microsoft Word
Microsoft WinWord
Microsoft Word 3.0
Microsoft Word 4.0
Microsoft Word PC
RTF

For best results, select the option that most closely matches your version of Microsoft Word. "Microsoft Word," "Microsoft Word 3.0," and "Microsoft Word 4.0," above represent Word 5.x, 4.x, and 3.x for the Macintosh, respectively. Word 6.0 for the Macintosh and other versions of Word can open any of the file formats referenced above.

Click Save to convert the file.

On the File menu, click Close.

Open Word and on the File menu, click Open and open the converted document.

Here is the full document (make sure to delete any spaces):

Good Luck!

If you have to do this type of thing often, it is worth getting ConversionsPlus software, which will convert from Mac formats to PC formats and supports tons of filetypes.
