Opening MS Word 2000

I installed MS Office 2000 on a Windows 2000 operating system. Now every time I open MS Word it tells me that the system is configuring the setup please wait. This takes about a minute or 2 once completed I can use word with no problem once in theprogram it is just every time I start the program. All the other programs work fine, I tried uninstalling and re-installing with the same result any help would be appreciated.
