opensource asset inventory tool

By shambhu.1980 ·
Hi,
I would like to know about any opensource asset inventory tool, which could be used to track all equipments assigned to different user in a company. Currently i use an excel sheet to track this, but it is not that effective.

Thanks in advance,
Shambhu.

GLPI???

by 1bn0 In reply to opensource asset inventor ...

Don't know if its at a complletely function state yet.

But I have previously installed it under WAMP on WIndows XPP desktop. Simple to install and test.

It is based in IRM (Information REsource Manager) another OSS project but includes additional funtionality.

Open source IT Inventory assets tools

by julien.beaucour In reply to GLPI???

I have been using GLPI and OCS to handle my IT asset as well as my IT helpdesk ticketing system.
In fact, GLPI does not have an automatic interface to uplaod your IT asset, you need to use OCS and tehn link your OCS server to your GLPI server.
OCS uses an agent that can be deployed through a GPO and it can work in both Linux or Windows.
The interest of linking your OCS server to GLPI is taht you can link all ticket received by one user to his hardware.
In GLPI you can also add the financial data of each hardware.
Hope it helps you.
