Oracle Financials Consulting

By xfactor787 ·
I got an offer from what was then Andersen Consulting at the end of 2000/beginning of 2001. Back then I was working for a small consulting firm on a project with a startup affiliate (AC Technology Venture) in the Silicon Valley during the boom times. I initially received an offer in Resources as Houston, TX. is my home then applied to Comm. and Hi Tech in San Francisco and received an offer there also. I turned down both AC offers to work with another small consulting firm specializing energy trading business and you know how that market turned out (Enron?). After being laid off earlier this year I could not get an offer with Accenture as both of the above mentioned markets are doing terribly now. I am now working for a stable, low pay public authority that uses Oracle Financials. I am gaining good functional and technical experience in O.F., Oracle Reports and would like feedback on how the market as a whole looks like for Oracle Financials folks. I would like to get back into consulting in the near future.

Oracle Financials consultanting position

Hi,

Currently the ORacle financials job market looks better compared to over an year ago, I still suggest its too early to understand the oracle financials market,

Consulting assignments purely depend on your relavant technical skills( what all submodules/domains you worked apart from upgrade, migration etc projects). you can use the regular job boards like www.dice.com,, www.monster.com, www.nettemps.com, www.oracle.com and other job boards to see the trend and skills required for oracle financials and then decide

consulting projects are from 1 month - 1 year duration, are you willing to take a shot with your skills.

Oracle Financials

Eventually, I will be willing to take a shot. I am still considering what is left of the big 5/4 whatever you call them now firms to maybe join an ERP practice when the market opens back up. I just started working with Financials 5 months ago but have a strong SQL developer background. The question is how much experience is enough to jump back into the market at this point?

Go to ERP Fans website to look for Oracle FInancials opps. Right now the Canadian market is strong on all ERP platforms. US seems to be strong in Peoplesoft and SAP.
