Out of IRQ's on an NT server

By tehan1 ·
Can anyone suggest a way in which to share IRQ's on an NT box. In brief, the machine has five modems installed and needs a serial port added or freed to accommodate communication with a UPS. (p.s. Inherited problem)

Out of IRQ's on an NT server

by maxwell edison In reply to Out of IRQ's on an NT ser ...

Greetings,

ADLink released PCIS-DASK/NT version 1.61 in December 1998. NuDAQ PCI cards with PCIS-DASK/ NT now can share IRQ and work well under Windows NT. This relieves the customers from the trouble of missing IRQs or IRQ conflicts, especially with an application needs several NuDAQ PCI cards.

If you need further information, contact: Mr. Alex Lee,

You can read about this product by cutting and pasting this link:

Another article that I ran across, Understanding, fighting and avoiding The Dreaded IRQ Conflicts", may help as well:

Good luck,

The above answer is assuming you need to have all of these devices available at the same time. Another thought I had, however, if you don't need them all at the same time, is to create different hardware profiles. Reboot the maching whenever you need a different set of hardware devices, selecting the appropriate hardware profile.

Don't know the answer.
However I am assuming the modems are to provide internet access.
In that case it's better to implement a dsl connection /leaseline and to use a internetsharing program (ms proxy server, wingate, winproxy, wintoute) to share the internet connection to the users.

Four of the modems are fax lines and one is the internet connection for MS-SBS.

YOU HAVE MULTIPLE CHOICES.
1.- SETUP A DIGIVOX CARD OR BOX WHICH ALLOWS YOU UP TO EIGHT MODEMS, AND LET THE HARDWARE TO THE JOB.
2.- MOVE THE NT SOFTWARE TO XP, IT WILL SHOWS YOU AS MUCH AS 24 IRQ!!!
3.- ADD A NIC CARD TO THE UPS AND CONTROL IT VIA LAN
