out of office

By yjeanty ·
I am unable to send out of office reply to senders. Outlook 2000 is configured ok. I am able to send and receive mail except.I configured the reply to send notice to users that I am currently out of office but it does not work.

Have you set your status to "I am currently out of the Office" using the out of office assistant on the tools menu?
What happens if you book an appointment in your calendar, set the status as out of office, close outlook and get someone to send an email to you while you are 'out'?

Yes, Status is set to I am currently out of the office. I set up an appointment and it reacts the same way as if I were in the office. I am thinking of reconfigured the user profile in outlook client.

Sounds nutty but - do you have a signature configured?

I don't think it works unless you do.

If you are unsure - Check by going to
Tools/options/signature picker

Out of office assistant is pretty straight forward. without knowing your environment. I would ask a couple of questions. 1) did it ever work? 2) if so what has changed.
Did your company recently add an Anti-spam mail filter? Once we added our filter the OOA would only work internally. perhaps you added a rule yourself that gets run before the OOA and consequently messes it up.

just a few thoughts

Outlook may be configured - but does you Exchange server allow it? It can be switched off/over-ruled there
Also, if not running Exchange - I dont think it will work - it never did with ouir unix based system!

Out of Office message was working. It suddently just stopped working. The user does have signature picker on. I tried booking an appointment while out of office is on and nothing happened. We are running exchange 5.5 on win2k server.
