Outlook 2000 Security Issue

By mtorres7 ·
I have noticed that I can add another user's email to be opened at my local configuration of the Exchange Server. For example, in Outlook ; Tools ; Services ; Microsoft Exchange Server ; Properties ; Advanced Tab : Open Additional Mailboxes.
How can I protect each user email account?

If you are an admin of the exchange server you will be able to do this. However non-admins will not unless the user or admin has setup permissions to allow this. The user can setup this by going to the Tools menu, select Options and click the Delegates tab. Then add whoever they want to view.

Otherwise the user is already protected from people viewing the inbox.

I have made a test from a user computer (the user is not an Admin, and the mailbox opened does not delegate rights to this user).
The user gains access to the mailbox without problems.

There is no way that any user can gain access to other users mailboxes without having permission to do so...
check your settings...

you can go to the user's properties from AD users and computers and then to the exchange advanced tab... and check the permissions...

Some users ared Administrators at their PC's, and others are Power Users or Limited.
All of them can add mailboxes to their Outlook configuration.
