Outlook 2000 vs Outlook 2002

After upgrading to Outlook 2002 the folder Find is working extremely slow. Using same pst/folder/search criteria Outlook 2000 takes less than 2 seconds while Outlook 2002 takes over 2 minutes. A Dell support person believes that it is because the pst was created under Outlook 2000. Is there a data difference between these 2 versions of Outlook? If so, is there a way to convert the data?
